I have an EVGA GeForce GTX 970, but I've not got around to overclocking it yet, so the basic question is what program do I use to overclock it.

Also anyone with any experience with this card, what kind of speeds are you getting out of it?

Recently started playing with over clocking mine using msi afterburner so far got the core clock up by + 250 mhz and the memory up by + 200 mhz.

I followed this guide by jaytwocents on you tube.

I didn't mess with the voltage control though.

cant say it made any difference to playing wow in legion though

just ran a valley benchmark this is what i got stock was 2377

overclocked results here

you should be able to get around 1500mhz+ on the core and 1900mhz on the memory if its hynix or 2000mhz+ if its samsung. precision X or msi afterburner would both work fine with that gpu.

I choose Afterburner, but Precision X is just as good.

970 OCs tend to hit around 1500MHz on the core and around 4000MHz (8000MHz after DDR). Push the limiters up, make sure your temps are okay and you will be fine pushing the voltage up as well :)

Sorry for the late reply on this, was off work today so thought I'd finally play around with it.

I'm a bit confused by it all tbh, when I fired up GPU-Z, it says my core clock is 1165Mhz, but when I run Valley, it says it's 1500Mhz?

This is a picture of stock.

And this is the overclock I've managed to achieve.

Also a pick of the settings.

Just a little confused why GPU-Z is saying 1 thing while Valley is saying another, I just take it I'm reading things wrong.
With the core clock, If I try 1650Mhz, Valley crashes on me right at the start, I've not played with the memory, once I hit 4000Mhz I stopped.

It looks like your hitting the power limit,Lower the memory to +200mhz keep increasing the core clock till you hit instability/power limit

I've tried taking the memory speed back to stock, but I can't seem the push the core +100Mhz.
In valley, once the benchmark starts, I get a split second on display, then a blackscreen for a few seconds before it crashes.

Is there some setting I'm missing? I watched that youtube guide, I got core voltage, power limit and temp limit cranked all the way up. Power and temp are linked and it's set to proritise temp.

Im getting 1516 on the core and 3990 on the memory. if I run valley on the same settings as you im getting 5670 think thats more to do with the CPU rather than the overclock on the GPU though.

heres my result with the highest settings.
