For Christmas i got an i5 (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-360-IN) along with a Z68AP (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-364-GI) some ram (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-094-KS) and a cooler (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-001-CS). At the moment under full load the temps peak at about 55 degrees. How far do you guys think i could push my processor and would it be a good idea to leave overclocking for a couple days to let it settle in?

when overclocking do I just increase the multiplier or the FSB? On the basic guide it says something about k series but i don't really understand what to do differently with them :/

I have managed to get it to 4.4 ghz on stock voltage and it peaks at 71 degrees. Do you guys think I should push it further? It still passes on prime95 when I run it for about half an hour!

What are you using to test with? If it peaks at 71 using IBT, I'd say that was a pretty good result. If you're only using Prime to test, be aware that IBT would add another ~5-7C to those temps. I'd aim to keep the CPU under about 75C (I like to leave a margin for error) using IBT on max memory for 10 runs, then once I was happy with temps, test using Prime for 12 hours or so (overnight basically).

If you're stable at 4.4GHz on stock volts, I'd be pretty happy tbh  After that, make sure you keep a note of the settings and then you can see about pushing further - I need 1.34v to get 4.6GHz stable and I'm very happy with that. Of course YMMV but that's half the fun...

TBH if you are hitting 71degs, you might get another .1Ghz, but that's probably your limit with that cooling. You could try dropping the volts till it becomes unstable, then bump it up 1 or 2 points and that will reduce the heat.

Quirk of the chip, my i5K has 4 -5 degs difference at idle and load temps, it's rather anoying at first, but you will learn to live with it.

Same here - one core consistently reports 5-9C over the others under load. As long as it's stable and not ridiculously high, I wouldn't worry too much.
