I had to reset my mobo and I lost my overclock on my Q6600 which was at 3.2.Unfortunately I didn't have the settings saved and now I have to start from scratch but I don't have enough time for testing etc.My spec is in my sig and the CPU is watercooled,is there anyone here with a similar rig that can share voltage/ratios values etc?

Here are my settings with system in sig...

External Clock - 400
Multiplier - 9x
DRAM Speed - 1:1:00 (DDR2-800)
PCI-E - 100

CPU - 1.52v (1.42 or so under load)
DDR2 - 2.0v
CPU VTT - 1.23v
MCH - 1.29v
ICH - 1.05v
ICHIO - 1.5v
DDR2 REF - 0%
CPU GTL 0+2 - 67%
CPU GTL 1+3 - 67%

Limit CPUID MaxVal - Disabled
C1E - Auto
Execute Disable Bit - Enabled
Virtualisation - Disabled
EIST - Auto

RAM - By SPD

If you haven't done so already, you will probably need to do the bolt mod on the heatpipe and get some active cooling on both the NB and PWMs as they will get very toasty when overclocked.

Thanks for the reply.I have added a fan just above the PWM and temps were ok at 3.2.I wonder if I should go higher this time,3.6 for example, like yours. One question, did you overclock it via BIOS or uGuru software?

Via Bios, wouldn't even consider doing it via software tbh

Well worth heading for 3.6, especially if water-cooled

EDIT - once you get it stable, save a profile in the bios in case you lose them again ;)

Just check for stability with Prime95 and keep an eye on the temps with CoreTemp.

So long as you are not going much over 70c then all is good :)

One more question for you mate, your CPU voltage is 1.52 and 1.42 under load, shouldn't it be the other way around?I just used all your settings, will test with Prime and see how it goes.

1.52v is the setting in the bios, but the IP35Pro suffers from vdroop quite a bit.

Watch your voltage under full Prime95 load and you should see it dip somewhat from what you actually set it to. Some boards will dip 0.05, others 0.10.

You lose a little voltage along the way due to resistance/efficiency etc. It's nothing to worry about:)

What he means is that the vcore is set at 1.52 in the Bios, but because of vdrop/vdroop the cpu voltage drops to 1.42 under load. This happens with all motherboards, some worse than others. If you use cpuz and look at the cpu voltage at idle then compare it to what it says under load, you will see a similar drop happen.

* edit - haha, was beaten to it as I was writing this post

After a few seconds of Prime testing I got a BSOD,raised voltage a bit but no luck,I guess I will stick to 3.2 :(

Were you trying for 3.6? If so start with something lower and just bump the fsb by a few mhz at a time and keep working at it rather than jumping .4ghz. Be surprised if 3.2ghz is the most you can get stable from your q6600

Running 4 sticks of RAM will be stressing the hell out of the memory controller, so, yes you will likely need to relax timings somewhat. Also check the RAM is set at the correct voltage.

RAM was set at 2V,I will try 5-5-5-15 when I find which settings I have to change.

edit-I now know how to change timings, will do some more testing later, thanks for your help guys!

No worries. If you want to see if the RAM is holding back your overclock, remove 2 sticks and see if it's stable. If it is, then you either need to get 2x 2gb, or settle for 3.2. :)
