ok guys i finally got my Q6600 to 3gig on my p5n-d mobo i ran 3dmark to see if it crashed it never, i dont really have time to do prime95 but i done it for about 5mins and never crashed.

my temps are a bit worrying though they idle about 37 36 35 35 when i ran prime they jumped to 69 68 61 61 are they bit on high side?

pushed my vcore to 1.4575 i think it was but speedfan reads it at 1.41 but every 1 says this mobo got really bad votlage loss.

am gonna try see if prime runs for 30 mins tonight while red dwarf on, if it still BSOD's

could some 1 reccomend what to do from there?

also my other voltages are
HT- 1.42
NB - 1.42
SB - auto
RAM - 2.01 crucial recommend 2V but thinking my mobo prob loose some there too :|
and my ram unlinked.

i let you guys know what happens later on tonight

cheers

ok ran prime for 30 mins no errors or fails temps where 71 70 62 62 max.

why are 2 cores lower temps?

thats what i was thinking pauly but when i put it lower it just Bsods on prime in like 30 secs.

i try lowering it and see if it works.

thanks a lot :D

Believe it or not, the newer q6600 need massive amounts of voltage to clock well.

Mine needs 1.4750v in bios (1.450 with drop) to get 3.2ghz stable. :(

well i was just going for 3gig really i tried lowering the Vcore but if i go below 1.45 it just crashes in prime after 3mins

but as i say when i stress test my vcore on speedfan is 1.36 and 1.41idle.

think i am happy the now i try games 2morrow and see how i get on might try reapply my thermal paste as them temps seem a bit funky to me, its cores 1 and 3 that are like 8deg higher.

but a 40deg idle temp seem reasonable the room my pc is in is like 24deg and the case is really ment for low noise not cooling.

still getting bit together for better cooling.

thanks a lot for reading and i keep you posted of any problems

OMG

Saying that i had 1.225 vid, its getting 3.8ghz stable on my mates UD3P now at 1.38 :(

Thought even high VID Q6600's were still decent clockers (getting 3-3.2 at VID)

well played race driver Grid and left for dead for over 6 hours and max temp recoreded was 59C.

so far no BSOD's so pretty pleased.

thanks for all the input from other previous posts guys.
