overclocking n00b question

my rig is as signature. I have recently modded the 7970 to use an Antec 620 as the cooler.

Playing bf4 @ 1080p ultra, the temperature of 7970 sits at 45-50oC (20 ambient). the 7990 sits around 65oC. so i think there is some headroom that can be utilized.

at the moment, the 7970 is stock, so it sits at 925MHz. and in crossfire, the 7990 is also dragged down to 925MHz.

so the plan is to overclock the 7970 to 1000MHz to match the 7990. i have MSI afterburner installed, I can mess around with the core speed and memory speed, but the voltage slider (first one) is disabled. the power slider is enabled, is that the one i play with? or shall i just do all these in catalyst? Thanks! :D

If you're only after 1000mhz the card should do it even at stock voltage. Just move the sliders and apply. If I remember right mine starts to need voltage increases after around 1140mhz.

If you go into settings (in afterburner) you can enable voltage control on both these cards.

My 7990 at stock volts (1.2V) gets to 1100Mhz without issue (probably more but haven't tried). Max voltage AB allows on it is 1.3V
