I have always been under the assumption that none K chips cannot be overclocked but I have seen a few instances lately of people talking about using software to overclock.

Now in my wife's PC she has an i5 3470. not that it really struggles for what she uses it for but still, the inner tinkerer in me has to try if its possible.

So then, who's done it and what is the success rate?

Cheers :)

You'd be overclocking with the BCLK which means it affects, RAM/GPU/SATA so you'd have to be careful not to overclock those to instability, you should be able to overclock it though.

Depends on the motherboard. Z and P chipset allow for some multiplier overclocking on top of the bus. You can usually get around 105 bus and a multiplier of 4 over the max turbo.
