Overclocking noob - need a walkthrough!

Hi folks,

Title says it all. I've gone since April 2012 with my system (specs below) without overclocking and I think it's about time to do so to keep up with newer games as I notice my CPU is lacking without some overclocking. First off, I think I need a major walkthrough on overclocking. I've looked through this thread and it's all a bit too confusing for the likes of me.

Before I get started I'll share my system:

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail
Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 600W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
VTX3D HD 7850 2048MB GDDR5
Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CML8GX3M2A1600C9)

So... From what I've read and looked at in my BIOS (In simple terms) I just have to slide the frequency bar a couple of notches and pray I don't BSOD? See what I mean? I don't understand this stuff so I was hoping some friendly person can give me a pointer?

Not sure on your particular mobo/cpu but on the Gigabyte Z77 Wifi and a 3570k, go into BIOS, change the multiplier from 33 (3.3ghz), to 43 (4.3ghz), and increase the voltage slightly (may not even have to - this board I dealt with didn't have voltage control so we couldn't, but got a stable 4.3Ghz).

cpu dvid +0.015v
pwm phase control to extreme
cpu voltage response to fast

download realtemp for your core temps and cpu-z for your cpu speed/voltages

try to keep temps below 75c
