overclocking NOOB

Hi ya,

WARNING! overclocking NOOB.

Ok I did overclock my asrock K7S41GX a little but nothing major.
I am building the rig below and would like to know the best way to overclock it.
The guides here are cool but are there any guides out there for my CPU and MB combo. or if you have the same combo where did you start.

ASUS P5W DH deluxe wi-fi
core 2 duo E6600 CPU
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
2GB Corsair XMS2-6400C4 DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
HIS X1900 ICEQ3 SILENT Heatpipe ***Crossfire Edition*** 512MB GDDR3
HIS X1900 XT ICEQ 3 SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out
Hiper HPU-4M730 Type R 730W ATX2.2 PSU

You may be better off buying a G80 (8800GTX or 8800GT) rather than 2 x1900xts.

I agree to some extent, if I were you i'd wait for some benchmarks and opinions of people here on the forums who are going to buy the G80, just to be sure. It's a serious amount of money for anyone to spend on graphics, don't rush into anything

Nah, you wont hurt it. At worst you'll set something wrong (more than once) and it wont POST. But all ya gotta do is clear the CMOS and start again.

Yeah dont buy 2 1950XTX's, the new cards are supposed to blow every card out the water. Wait a while for some good reviews then think about what your gonna buy.

I will upgrade to the new cards in 6 or 7 months if they turn out to be any good and see what ATI has to offer too.
nephew can have the X1900's then. I did hear the G80's are not much difference to the cards now but with DX10.
however cooltechzone.com story might be a load of bull

i got a single HIS x1900xt iceq3 and it rocks i can play guildwars (quite graphically intense, not as intense as oblivion) at full settings with 4x anti aliasing

havent even looked at any other cards tho but this one is a decent performer

you OC your X1900xt? (heard they are tricky to do)

I mainly play BF1942, BF2, BF2142, GRAW, FEAR, COD2 (all war stuff)

They all play ok on my old rig which only has a radeon 9600pro.
so with 2 X1900xt they should fly.

Not tried guidwars or oblivion but members of my clan play Guidwars.

just waiting for the BenQ FP241W 24" monitor to come out now to complete the rig.
