Hi, didnt have much success overclocking my CPU. some strange problems, so im deciding to OC my GPU instead.

Its an Asus 9800GT 1024mb card. Its got the huge stock fan that came with it. Its idle temp is 42c.

GPU-Z shows its currently set to: 600 clock, 900 mem, 1500 shader.

I believe it should be easy to get it to 674/956/1662.

i just dont know the best software to use.

thanks

Joe

now, its safe to overclock to 674/956/1662 with stock fan? its a huge thing

Should be ok, its not a massive overclock, just do it in stages and after each stage stress test with ATi tool and monitor the temps, if your happy bump it higher.

Furmark then. Beware its a VERY stressfull tool so if your card stays at a decent telp ie <85oC and doesn't artifact then your cards solid. Although you might hit 85oC or so in furmark you'll never hit that in game.

I use EVGA Precision (you don't need an EVGA card), nTune gave me BSODs iirc (just trying to run it, not from overclocking too much).

For stress testing I use Furmark.
