I have recently bought an fx 9590 from my friend (for a price worth it) as he didn't want it, I have an msi 970 gaming mobo and have managed a stable enough core speed on it at just onder 6ghz!!! but when I increce the fsb higher than 230, I have the voltages on auto so I presume this will be fine, I have sufficant cooling (coolermaster v8 gts). I have no working software that can tell me the temp of my cpu, I have tried core temp and speed fan and they both show 0c but in the bios it shows temps acuratly.

so is it safe to take it above 6ghz and any amd software to show my temps whilst running a stress test

Sorry, but there is no way in hell you are on 6Ghz, especially with air cooling! Do you mean 5Ghz?

+1

1) the msi gaming is not the best OC board out there.

2) Under custom water with a crosshair V formula, I maxed out at 5.25GHz on my FX9590 at 1.52V

Using air I am now at just over stock at 4.85 GHz with a 5.15Ghz turbo (admittedly at 1.42V) but cannot see 6GHz in your scenario.

Mine: Crosshair V formula, Heligon HE01 cooler, 2 x 140mm intakes, 3 x 120mm exhaust.
