ive recently acquired a free pc, hp desktop with hp mobo no overclocking available through the bios. can any1 recommend a very cheap (2nd hand) mobo for overclocking this chip or software that will do the job well.

what might i get the overclock upto with this processor?

It's probably not worth it because you'll have to shell out on a big, expensive cooler too (those chips get VERY hot) and it wouldn't be worth it because a modern celeron from the Core 2 Duo era would probably wipe the floor with it anyway.

your probably right, ill just keep it as it is, its only a 2nd machine in the workshop. mind you if it gets hot it will help keep the workshop warm:D

I had a D820, they do run very hot, you can probably get a small overclock out of it without affecting temps too badly but nothing more than 10-15% i would think before temps start to rise a lot more.
