Hi everyone.
Been gathering info for the last couple of weeks, via the OC's forums, and website, for a new PC build, albeit one by the folks at PC Specialist.
Been running the same Dell P4 3.0 with 2Gb RAM for the last 6 years, although the 1950 Pro in my AGP slot has only been there a year or so... Its served me without complaint since 2002, and in terms of value for money, I really can't complain.
But its retirement is long overdue, and the processor beeping at me whenever I force it play 'Assassin's Creed', has finally pushed me towards replacement.
New system is on order - Core Duo E8400, 4Gb Corsair XMS2 800, Asus P5K SE, 1024Mb 8800GT, Silent Knight II cooler, 1x 500Gb HD, and one 160Gb (Not RAID), all housed in a CM Cosmos S tower.
Will be used to play some current games, although not a great deal at the moment - Assassin's Creed, Bioshock (Crysis I expect, given what I have seen of it), and looking forward to having a machine capable of running Mafia II when it see's the light of day...you get the picture.
I am a 'tinkerer', and like messing with things, but I've never overclocked a PC, and although I know my way around them, systems, and hardware wise, I would be a complete novice with regard to overclocking...
So my question (at last I hear you groan!)...will my system have the potential for a bit of overclocking? If so, should I go ahead and do it with the help of the very nice guides available on the forums here?
Sorry for the long winded post...
Regards.
