Overclocking problems 3570k and msi z77 mpower

I just got my i5 3570k and msi z77 mpower adn they both work perfectly. I have tried the oc genie button on the mobo and that oc's the processor to 4.2, but i would like to get more out of it, so i tried to manually overclock it. But no matter what settings i put in, my computer won't post. First i just upped the cpu ratio to 4.6 and upped the voltage to 1.25 but that didnt work, so i kept lowering and lowering the settings untill i was back at stock clocks and voltages and NONE of the settings worked. Can any of you guys help me figure out whats wrong?

Asus Gtx 680 directcu ii top OC
Corsair HX750 Watt
Samsung 840 120gb SSD

Up the voltage to 1.3v and try 4.4ghz (44 multiplier, 100bclk)
