All over.
When I do SP2004 blend test I keep getting:

FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
Torture Test ran 0 minutes 20 seconds - 1 errors, 0 warnings.
Execution halted.

I've got an E6300 on a DS4 motherboard

FSB is at 331MHz
Core speed 2317MHz

I thought it was a memory issue so I upped the voltage by 0.025V in the BIOS.
I've got Geil Ultra 6400 Cas4 RAM.

Can anyone help?
 
Upped the vcore to 1.35V and it halted Sp2004 again. Same error. Put it back to stock for now.

Is there something that I'm doing wrong?

It would be a great help if someone took a camera shot of the DS4 BIOS with their settings, which I could compare mine to.
 
You can't compare overclocks like that because even if you had the exact same mobo and cpu the results could be very different.

You instability is either due to your memory being pushed too far or you don't have enough juice going to your CPU. There is also the possibility you have reached its limits.

I would have thought this system could be pushed, what with the specs I've got. I've got a 500W Enermax Liberty PSU. Is that not enough?

Core 2 Duo E6300
Gigabyte G965-DS4
Geil Ultra Pc6400 800MHz DDR2 Memory
Connect 3d Ati Radeon X1800XT

I guess there is a possibilty of it reaching it's limits, but so soon? Other people seem to have got theirs much, much higher on stock voltages apparently.

I'm assuming you mean change the value under "System Memory Multiplier"?
That's already at 2.0 which is the lowest setting.

Do I need to update my BIOS? At the moment I'm on the F2.
 
I don't have a Floppy drive in this system. How do I go about updating the BIOS without a floppy?
 
Well, I managed to update to the F3 BIOS using @BIOS.

OCed again, FSB: 321MHz, stock Vcore. DDR speed 641MHz, VDIMM upped by 0.025V (don't actually know what the actual voltage is, doesn't say in BIOS. Anyway I can find out?)

On Sp2004, when I just perform the CPU test there were no errors

Do I still need to increase the VDIMM? Because it seems to be the memory that's impeding the overclock.

Geil states that the voltage can go up to 2.3V. But I'm not sure how much of an increase it is from the stock value in the BIOS.

Also, when I do one test at a time for Core 0, there are no failures. When I do a test for Core 1 it fails very quickly. Not sure what to do

Edit: Single core blend test for Core 0: Failed after 6 mins. :(

Temperatures, according to Core Temp, are 41C for Core1 and 46 for Core2.

Any ideas?

Update: I think I've cracked it. The BIOS confused me.

I downloaded Everest Ultimate, and read the stock VDIMM. 2.1V

Went into the BIOS and added 0.025V to the VDIMM. Everest read 1.87V. So in effect I was undervolting the memory. But the BIOS field for Memory voltage said +0.025V, meaning it adds it to the minimum VDIMM, which is confusing lol. :rolleyes:
 
Software readings are not always very precise. Be careful not to put too many volts through your RAM! :P It's worth finding out exactly what voltage is standard for that BIOS and RAM etc, and make sure you stick within the spec (unless feeling brave ;) )
 
I can't set my RAM timings to 4-4-4-12.
At the moment it's set on 5-5-5-15. If I change any of that to lower, the system reboots. I increased the VDIMM to 2.97V, which is right underneath the max at 2.3V according to GeIL, but it's still unstable.

Is there anything I can do to get these better timings?

(Ultra PC6400 CAS4 DDR2 RAM)

So far my stable overclock settings are:

Core Speed: 3220MHz
FSB: 460MHz
Vcore: 1.344V

I increased the FSB last night another 10MHz, to give ~ 3290MHz, and primed it. System rebooted after half an hour.

Temperatures - 40-43 Idle, 59 full load. Think I'm pushing it?
