Overclocking Problems

Ok i once tried to overclock and something went wrong with borked my XP install as i was missing a DLL.

I ran a stability test after incrementing 5MHz over stock, it restarted a few seconds after i began. This was after i changed the DRAM frequency to 1:1 and changed my timings a little, maybe too tight...they were the double figure ones.

So after the restart i went back into BIOS and changed the frequency to 4:5 again, then also changed my timings a bit to make them a bit looser. Ran the stability test (Prime95 i think), i ran it for about 30mins and everything was fine. Then tried to run orthos, and it didn't start up because it said i was missing a required DLL file. So at that point i gave up trying to overclock because i couldn't be bothered to reinstall XP. Fortunately i did the overclock using a spare drive with new copy of XP hehe. So what was likely to be the cause of my missing DLL, perhaps the timings (and the reboot) or the frequency?

Also people suggest setting the divider at 1:1 rather than 4:5...why would i want to do that? When my RAM is rated to run at 800MHz, i would want to keep it close to that. If my FSB is less than 400MHz, then setting my RAM divider to to 1:1 would be slower than any divider that gets it closer to or faster than 800MHz right?

Also, what would be the symptoms of the RAM not getting enough voltage?

Hope you guys can help, really want to get into overclocking but quite a few unanswered questions!
