Overclocking programme ATI HD 5770 ?

Start with amd overdrive in the ccc, leave the fan on auto unless you really what the noise and remember that mid 70s is perfectly safe under 100% load (when stress testing/futuremark) which will never happen in a game. Occt is great for testing the gpu as much as it is the cpu - unlike futuremark/games it does error testing, but the shortest custom gpu test is 8 min a think, 10 to be safe, because it monitors idel temps too.

Also, remember that the memory on 5770 (unless something changed) is rated at 5GHz but ships at 4.8 meaning 1250mhz isn't actually an over-clock :)

Edit: Make a system restore point before you start bth. Last time I played with a gpu I pushed it too far, system crashed and I ended with with some corrupt files.

What make 5770 do you have?

Use the latest beta of afterburner so you can up the voltage. Provided your board supports this you should then be able to acheiev a more stable and higher overclock.

That's true, although so many used cost cutting components it seemed unlikely to suggest it. Really need to know the make/model tbh.

For example, sapphire used 2 different types of memory. People with Samsung (rated @ 5GHz i.e. 1250MHz) tend to max at 1300-1350MHz, although 1250MHz isn't actually an over-clock since it's shipped under-clocked. Then again there's also cards using Hynix chips rated at 1560MHz so those people can simply crank it up to 1400MHz and it's not eve over-clocked.

Need more info :)
