Right,

I've had this for over a year, and I've never tried pushing it further than 3ghz

On the weekend, I'll be changing my ram from 4gb Ocz 6400 Platinum to 4gb Ocz 8500 Platinum (I have some spare)

CPU Q6600 G0
Motherboard P35-DS3R
Cooler 'TRUE'

I know it need to set the ram to 2.2v

What else do I do?

The last time I really overclocked was my Athlon XP 2500m @ 2.7ghz, don't know that much about clocking newer kit

Download Coretemp, find your VID. Enter the VID of the CPU as the voltage for it in the BIOS.

Enter all of your RAM timings and voltages, and make sure to keep the memory below 1066/533mhz using the dividers.

Make sure PCI-E frequency is locked at 100mhz (i use 101mhz just to break it away from being linked with the FSB, but as long as it isnt on auto, 100mhz should also be fine)

Increase FSB in increments of say 15-20 each time, and run IBT on maximum for 15 runs. (about 20mins iirc). As soon as it starts to fail, increase voltage one notch and try again.

Most of the other settings you can pretty much leave to be honest. :)
