Hi,

So recently I bought the Noctua NH-D14 cooler, so that I can get more value out of my recently slotted Nvidia 660 GTX.

Rig:
Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Case
Corsair VX 450W ATX PSU
KFA2 GeForce GTX 660 EX OC 2048MB GDDR5
Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L Intel P43 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
OCZ Gold Edition 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Series
CPU - Q6600 Quad Core Rev G0 @ 2.4Ghz

The fan speed at idle are around 600-700RPM. The temps at load using prime95 are 50 - 55. The fan speeds are around 800RPM.

I am going to read up on the old threads about OC'ing a Q6600, however I just wanted to check if anyone has any particular tips related to my specific rig? For example should I get the latest BIOS? Does anyone have any particular advice related to my mobo?

Thanks

I used to have a Q6600 on an Asus Rampage Formula. So can't offer any particular advice for your mobo; it is a great chip though. You should easily be able to get 3.2/3.4 out of it without even tweaking voltage, try adjusting the multiplier and see if it is stable. You might want to upgrade to 8gb too, that should noticeably speed things up. Good luck and let us know how you get on

Well I set the FSB to 333, to get 3Ghz and adjusted the ram speed to 800MHz. I ran 10 passes of IntelBurnTest on Standard with 4 threads. Temps did not go over 60 too much. Max temp was 65 on one core. I also ran prime and I had similar results, though the temps were a tad lower.

Will ramp it up a bit more and test.
Quick question: When I am increasing the FSB from 333, to say 370. How can I make it match my ram 1:1? None of the predefined Multipliers give me 800 - 800.

hmm... that sounds a bit hot... what heatsink do you have? i get 10 degrees lower than that with my Q6600 while under heavy load, with a relatively cheap heatsink (modified Corsair A50).

I am not sure, most of my HW parts are listed in first post. If not, how do I check?
