Overclocking Q6600 & PC5300 RAM

Does having PC5300 RAM rather than PC8500 greatly affect your overclocking results?

PC8500 means you won't have to overclock the ram. Whereas you may need to a little with your PC5300. Or so i beleive....

Depends what PC5300

I have Crucial Ballistix 5300 and it runs at 1000mhz fine

Which means it would run at 500FSB

Yes its Crucial Ballisitx Tracer RAM.
Just confused over some settings when overclocknig the CPU, with what divider/linked/unlinked choices etc to use to keep an overclock stable.
Had problems with booting with only a 300Mhz overclock which I didn't expect, and I'm thinking its down to the RAM settings.

Depends what voltage you are putting through it and the timings you are using

Rated voltage of 2.2v (+0.4v in BIOS). Not touched the timings though, so they will be at default/auto.

It seems to be choosing linked/unlinked and divider that confuses me. My AMD system didn't have such options.
