Hi i just wanted to ask how do you actually know if your overclock is working correctly.
i currently have a skylake 6700k and the asus Z170-deluxe board
it was setup at ocuk, and when i run cpu-Z it shows 4500.0ghz under cinebench
now the reason i ask is when my pc booted it said it could not load the overclock settings on boot up. and to hit F2.
i just reset the pc gave it a power reset and it seemed to come back on and boot fine,
and it has now not shown this message
but being a noob at overclocking i dont know if the overclock is running correctly or not.
any help apreciated :)

If cpuz shows you running at 4.5GHz under load, then its running at 4.5GHz

It probably came up with the message as your pc didn't shut down properly last time it was turned off.

thanks new boy
all my cpu temps etc are nice and low 20 21 20 22 and when i run cinebench it gets up to the 4.5ghz
i was just concerned about the error message as it is the first time i have seen that
with my new system :)

Check the BIOS mate, if you go to the AI Tweaker and scroll to the core ratio - it should say 45 on all cores.

But yes as above the figures showing it running at 4.5 are correct, the BIOS will also show you that on the top of the AI Tweaker your target boost clock will be 4500. It will run faster but 4.5 is more commonly stable at a fairly low voltage. I was running 4.6-4.7 but i've dialed back to 4.5 because I don't feel the temps are worth the small extra performance.
