Hey, 2 questions.

1. I read that you can get the CPU voltage to not go above a certain number, but it will still allow it to drop below this limit in order to not overuse the CPU when the additional power isn't necessary. I tried doing this using the adaptive voltage setting but after lots of fiddling (using auto and manual voltage offsets and changing power plan to balanced) i still couldn't stop it going over the limit. Could someone explain how i could achieve this? The voltage i want as the limit is 1.18V.

2. I tried a couple of speeds and as my general knowledge of overclocking is low, I would like someone who knows more to tell if the values i'm getting are decent or not and if not how i could improve it if possible.

Processor: i7 6700k
Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212X

4.2 GHz - 1.18V stable - 69degC max using standard intel burn test - 61degC max using Cinebench
4.4 GHz - 1.25V stable - 78degC max using standard intel burn test - 62degC max using Cinebench

I didn't dare going any higher 'cause i thought those temps were kinda high :x

Thanks a lot!

The temps are fine and you have a bit more room to try for 4.5GHz @ perhaps 1.3v.

Some stress tests, on Adaptive, automatically add 0.1v. This'll likely be the case with Intel Burn Test. Whereas Cinebench doesn't add anything to the voltage. Temps of 65-70C on Cinebench runs will better reflect real-world usage max temps. I'd be happy with that 24/7.

So I'd set 1.3v and a CPU ratio (or Turbo ratios preferably) of 45, and check that Cinebench stays around or below 70C.

If you want to prevent stuff like Intel Burn Test from adding voltage, then you have to temporarily change Adaptive to Manual/Fixed/Override, whatever your motherboard calls it. If you do this, there is more chance it will fail the test, but it doesn't mean it wouldn't be stable for your general usage. My opinion is don't bother - you can let temps reach 85-90C during such stress tests that add 0.1v, you won't see that the rest of the time.
