Overclocking questions!

Yo all,

For a while now i've wanted to overclock my computer and have tried a little but still not sure if i'm doing it right. My set up is;

- C2D E2140
- EVGA 650i ultra
- OCZ PC2-6400(400mhz)

But anyways, from what i understand you raise the fsb and that brings the core speed up? But say if i do that so that it runs at 2.3ghz in cpu-z it shows as 1700mhz and then will change to 2300 every so often?

If anyones got any ideas or has a similar set up to give me some tips will be greatly appreciated!

Does come up rather a lot this one. Speedstep is the processor downlocking to save energy when youre not using it much.

I advise reading stickies. Basic process is raise fsb, stability test for as long as you can bear. Repeat if it passes. When it fails, I again advise reading stickies. More voltage is not always the answer
