MY ram is OCZ 4GB Kit (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz/PC3-10666 Gold Dual Channel CL 9-9-9-26
Specifications
- 1333MHz DDR3
- CL 9-9-9-26 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)
- 4GB dual channel kit
- Unbuffered
- 1.7 Volts
- 240 Pin DIMM
- Gold Layered Z3 XTC Heatspreader*

I would like to try and overclock it but i havnt no idea how. After reading for around 30mins ppls questions on this. Do i have this right..?

1: i change the ram multiplayer/clock to 16000mhz (or what ever is the next one up..) and i keep putting the ddr2 voltage control (currently at 1.6V) by one untill i got get blue screen of death on start up/after running stress memory tests.

2: If i overclock the ram i can only have 4Gb (2x2Gb sticks) in my 4 slot mobo.

Is that right?...or am i seriously wrong lol

Whats the rest of your spec, you may not get 1600mhz from your ram.

OPs sorry forgot i changed my sig -_-

I dont think there is much point overclocking your RAM as the CPU has a 1333mhz limit, you could always try increasing your FSB to get an overclock on the ram slightly. Although I thought with AMD you are better to get tighter timings

Hmm true! i could try that! (fsb) Im actully playing about with the northbridge at mo to sort out the overclock so may give it a try nexttime i reset. cheers!

Yeah I got a decent jump in benchmarks overclocking the NB, 2400 - 2600mhz I think is the usual

Im a bit worried about moving the NB up tho. Ive heard it can REALLY f up your computer. The risks are a lot greater than overclocking cpu :( is that true?
I raised it upto 2200, but after a while it crashed:( i guess i could try riasing it to 2400?

well any overclock could f up your computer but it shouldn't do any damage to hardware, you may need to increase the voltage a notch.

Providing you dont go crazy with voltage and temps remain fine you should be ok.
