Overclocking ram

How do I overclock the cpu without overclocking the ram, as soon as I increase fsb it overclocks my ram too, sorry for extreme noob question

Some mainboard have the option for doing unlinked overclocking.

So when overclocking the cpu is it general that you overclock the ram at the same time?

depends how ur overclocking.

if your increasing the fsb/bclk, then it increases all componants as they are all linked to it.

some cpu's you can clock by them selves by increasing the multipler for the cpu, althou this only works on some cpu's

some motherboards, especially the more expensive ones that are designed for overclocking, you can adjust the memory speed seperatly, or change the multipler for the memory
