Hey,

I asked you a long time ago about overclocking my ram but it was on a very limited board. i now have a MvG board and the Corsair Dominator Platinum 1600mhz 8gb kit and wondering if you can help me overclock it further than the XMP profile?

i have an overclocked i5 3570K atm which is clocked to 4.7ghz.

Thanks!

I get an error while its trying to boot. The motherboard code reads 55

Edit: Just checked and error 55 means memory not installed :S

Thank you 8pack, im at work at the moment so will get back to you later when i get in.

How will this overclock affect my cpu overclock? I got 4.7ghz stable using manual over volting (couldn't work offset as it kept crashing and bsod'ing when stress testing) and would like to keep my 4.7ghz overclocking if possible.

Hey!

I tried those timings with the settings you gave me before and still no go. I get the "55" error code.

Here are my XMP settings as requested:

I did, i reset to optimised defaults and then went ahead and started to apply the settings by which after i couldn't post.

I'll try at those settings now and see how i go. Overclocking is so much harder than cou overclock lol

Hmmm

I just did the timings you suggested at 2133 and 2000 with Maximus Tweak Mode 1, 11-11-11-31 2T Latency Boundary 14

and.... still error 55.

Do i use the secondary timings you suggested at the start or leave those on auto? and MRC reboot fast disable or enable?

starting to feel i have some crappy sticks of ram here or my cpu isn't letting me do it.

Okay gonna give that a shot now.

If the ram can't do it, i may consider buying some higher frequency ram for overclocking.

Have you tested the G.skill Trident 2400mhz kit?

Okay so i just loaded up the profile, rebooted, went into bios fine. Then manually set dram volage to 1.65v cos it was still on auto and rebooted again and now im in windows.

What does this mean??

Hi 8pack, i've stopped overclocking my ram since all this cmos clearing has started to give me issues.

In particular with driver issues and corrupted files. May continue once i get it all sorted out.

This is classic instability in the RAM. Maybe that RAM is simply not suited to Overclocking. If I get chance I will put some sticks out and have a play on an ASUS board. I know the 1866 do 2450+ , The 2400 do 2500+ and the 2800 same on X79. Not had chance with them on Z77 yet either but Z77 is generally better in terms of both frequency and timings.

I thought as much, i've set my ram back to the standard xmp profile and its all smooth sailing again.

if you was In my situation would you fork out the extra for some higher speed ram?

I can get some G.skill trident X 2400mhz ram for under £60 and money isn't an issue here.

Right i'll give these a try later this week then and see how i get on.

Do i still use the voltages you gave me initially?

VCCIO 1.1
VCCSA 1.1

with your new settings?
