What's peoples experiences with overclocking the 25/2600ks with all four slots filled? 16gb if it makes a difference.

Thanks in advance.

it would be the same as Oc'ing with only 1 slot filled, because SB clocking is only done by the multiplyer, not the bus ;)

You've missed the point ;)

The question the OP asked has nothing to do with the speed of the RAM.

Overclocking can be more difficult with 4 RAM slots filled instead of 2 due to the extra strain on the memory controller.

Having said that I upgraded 2 i7-2600K systems from 2x4GB to 4x4GB and the overclock wasn't affected in the slightest.

I have 16gb of Corsair Vengeance 8-8-8-24 ram and a 5ghz over clock.

I use the Asus maximus extreme Z and have had no issues.

Mine were "only" at 4.8GHz.

Not every chip will hit 5GHz regardless of the number of sticks of RAM or any other factor.

Thanks, I'd be happy with anything over 4.5Ghz but as the chip will be under water I'd like to push it :)

Good to know, thanks :)

What voltage was required and what cooling?
