overclocking software and anti virus

Sorry if this is in the wrong area of the forums but couldnt find where it should go, please feel free to move it.. hey guys im ordering all my parts for a new build this weekend, its my first time building, was wondering if anyone here would post a list of software and programs you reccomend that im gonna need as I plan on overclocking also what Antivirus software I should buy. thanks folks

overclocking the CPU + RAM is best done in the BIOS.

for overclocking the GFX card use MSI Afterburner.


For antivirus I would say save your money and get windows live essentials.
 
Have a look at the thread below regards A/V, I currently use Microsoft Security on most of mu machines and so far no problems.

Others programs would help are Core temp / Real temp to check cpu core temps.
HW Monitor for general temps and cpu-z to check processor speed and memory details.
Prime 95 or Intel Burn Test for stability testing.
 
never tried MSE, but it's microsoft, so its enough to put me off.

You can't make an assumption about a product you have never used. MSE is actually very good from what I hear but I use Kaspersky AV only cause I have a 3 year licence. If your planning to Overclock your CPU then read these threads. Best advice I can offer you...
