Getting my 4400x2 very shortly and got the following last week....Asrock Dual Sata 939 mobo,GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 Value Dual Channel,Artic Pro Freezer 64. Am going to try and overclock it a bit, and was wondering

1) If I could get it to 4800x2 sppeds easy enough with the current setup? What would be the average settings?
2) If I added another GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 Value Dual Channel, would I have to do any extra tweaking with bios etc?

Sorry for the "innocent" questions but just recently joined site and am learning day by day. Thanks in advance,

Damien

I just got the same board and a X2 3800+. To reach 4800+ speeds you need an increase of 200mhz which should be really easy to do. I can get a 500mhz increase on mine on stock volts. with the stock cooler.

To overclock the X2 go into cpu configuration and change the overclock mode to CPU, PCI-E, async. Turn spread spectrum and cool and quiet off.
Then just increase the cpu frequency by a few at a time. For 4800+ speeds the frequency should be 240.
If you can't get any higher, increase the voltage to 1.4V.
This is the most voltage this board will let you put in, you can get more voltage by doing a solder mod and downloading a modded bios.

Set your ram to stay at DDR400.

Check the temp when doing this, I would try and let it idle under 50 and keep load under 60.

Lee87,

Just one qiestion, you mention "change the overclock mode to CPU, PCI-E, async. " I have an AGP card, does it make a difference?

That doesn't matter, i'm using an agp card aswell and it works fine.
When changing this make sure its on async not sync. Async will let you increase the cpu speed on its own. Sync will increase the speed of the pci-e and cpu together.

I might have have made a mistake on the frequency for the 4800+ in my first post. If your X2 4400+ has a multiplier of 11 (it will tell you in the bios) you will need a frequency of 220 for 4800+ speeds. If its 10 you need 240.
