Does anyone have any more information on how to do this?

If you skip to the overclocking section in this review they mention needing nTune installed to overclock the card as the Coolbits hack doesn't work. I assume that only applies to people using NForce chipsets so i wonder where that leaves us peeps with Intel chipsets?

Apparantly it's the same situation with temp monitoring.

Have you tried to install nTune? Im assuming that nVidia made it modular so that only the components that can work are there to be used. It would be a massive oversight on their part if they didnt do this. Try install the program and see what the go is.

I've seen posts from other people who tried using nTune on their Intel boards without luck.

The only clue i have is from screenies that other people have posted of their o/cs that have atitool open in them. Could it be possible that you can o/c an Nvidia card using atitool?

Thats called wishful thinking, if coolbits isn't working then it looks like things work differently for the G80 cards, in which case its very unlikely ATItool will work on it, that is unless a new version has just been released with this functionality?

The latest version does apparently support Nvidia cards although i don't know how good the support is for the 8800GTX. Gonna try the latest version of nTune first and then atitool.

System restore..ON and off we go.... :p

There is always a point. Just because its the fastest card doesnt mean it cant be faster. There is always the inquisitiveness amongst some of us that means we do things not because there is a point but because we can. I wouldnt be a geek if some of my actions had points :D

nTune didn't work. (Latest version 5.5). Pc locks up when you select 'find optimal'. I'm pretty sure this utility is only supposed to be used with nForce chipsets though.

I have nhancer and after using coolbits the overclocking option shows up in the control panel as normal, maybe i'm just lucky :)

With a P5W DH Deluxe and BFG 8800 GTX

ATITool seems to be working right now. It recognises the card alright so this may be the solution. Using latest beta version 10.

Ok, using ATITool, preliminary stable clocks 650/2000 (Default 575/1800) :D Core ran out of steam @ 668, mem was going strong @ 2100 when i bottled out and decided that 2000 was more than enough ;)

Max temp so far 84c, running @ 82c atm while artifact scanning. No time for overclocked benchies tonight as i'm off to work but my default runs were:

3DMark05...18614
3DMark06....11207

Can't wait to re-run them with the o/c settings.

F.E.A.R was 34/67/162 @ 1920x1200 4xAA 16xAF everything maxed.

Oof thats so nice.

Im sooooo tempted... but it can't fold so no go for me.

82C.. jesus those cards really do run hot. I'm waiting to see how other people are faring overclocking these cards and the temps they are getting.
