Overclocking the Phenom II X2 550.....voltage question.

Hi,

I.ve just built my first Pc yesterday...., and after 24hrs of testing stability, ive moved onto overclocking the CPU and pushed the multiplyer upto 17.5 which takes the speed from 3.10ghz to 3.5ghz, and it seems perfectly stable....but....

I didnt increase the voltage on the CPU, is this something i need to do immediately? or just see how stable it is under stress conditions, and if no problems, then leave alone.

I dont want to be damaging the CPU, without realising until its too late.....

Just leave it until the system shows signs of instability then tweak it up a notch and test again

Thanks for that, good to get some reassurance.....

According to all the reviews i've seen the CPU seems to be good for 3.8-3.9Ghz, but i dont think im going to push any further than 3.5, as i dont think there will be much of a noticble improvement..
