:D Hi Guys, the way things are going this will be the first of many posts. I've tried the settings on extreme site (instant nothing) so reboot, good old asus I really need this instant bios.
p5b deluxe wifi m/b
e6600 cpu
geil pc6400-800 ultra
I have the dram freq. set to 1067mhz @2.1 volts do I disable spd and config. the memory myself ( if so what settings do I use 5-5-5-15?) or leave it enabled. I think I will leave it there till I get a response. Any help and handholding will be greatly appreciated. Z

Well your ram is rated DDR800 not DDR1067 :p lower the ram frequency and up the fsb!

Manually configure the memory timmings. I think yours are the Cas4 set as theyre 'ultra' so set the timmings to 4-4-4-12

Hi Xez, thanks for that what about the next 2 settings after the 4-4-4-12
OK so I used 6 and 35 and at least it booted into windows thats a first.

right another problem Orthos blend will not run for more than 50secs. before failing. This is @ 2.15volts and @ 5-5-5-15

Update to latest BIOS and do this:

Chnage the CPU multi to 8. Set FSB to 400.

400Mhz divider (1:1) and 4-4-4-12-4-35 timings

CPU V: 1.35
FSB Term: 1.4V
NB V: 1.55
SB V: 1.5

Using the settings for the rest as per the xtreme systems guide on the P5B Deluxe.

Should see you to 3.2ghz.

If it crashes try 1.4V CPU.

Watch the CPU temps using CoreTemp.

CR.

Hi Concorde, I think you do indeed rule. That is the best reply I have had yet, I will give it a try and post back. I have seen you help plenty of others and now it is my turn. Z :D

Hi Concorde, I have it now @ 3.2 thanks to you. I am just running Orthos Small FFT's so I will Let you know. Thanks again. Z :D

Ran Orthos small tff's 3.5hrs stable. Just checking the mem. with Blend.
The only change I made to the extreme website settings was to change the dram freq. to 800 instead of the 1066 on there. Z :)

Hi Concorde, as a silver surfer of 69 ;) I needed all the help I could get and you certainly gave it m8. Trouble is to go further how do I go on. Z

Once you have tested enough, 48 hours at full load or something (I fold 24/7!) you can try and work on something else.

I would drop the CPU multi down one, and boot at 400FSB, download clockgen and set the PLL as CY28551.

Now, set NB voltage to 1.65V and SB to 1.6V. And start raising the FSB using the PLL Control panel.

Upping FSB in BIOS changes the strap so you loose performance.

Using this program, 10mhz at a time, start upping the FSB. Test using Windows memtest (google) and make sure it passes atleast 300%. YOu will need to use two instances of Windows memtest as each program only supports up to 1gb, so give each one 870 mb odd of ram to test.

Once you start getting errors try adjusting the memory voltage up and down, if that doesn't work back down 5mhz and try again. If this passes 500% then your set to raise the CPU multi again.

So reboot and up the CPU multi. Give the CPU 1.4V or add 0.050V more to what you had.

Once in windows do the same using clockgen, setting 10mhz at a time and test using Orthos, Using Small FFTs. If it errors up the CPU voltage up two notches and try again.

Watch the temps using CoreTemp, try and keep it under 60C, max voltage is 1.5/1.55 depending on temps.
