Hi All!

I recently bought a lot of expensive hardware and want someone (Said Guru) to come round and get the most out of it!

Who's the man?

Cheers,

Paul

Hi and welcome to the forums.

Firstly you should list up all the components that youve purchased, then its a good idea to read up on overclocking your particular kit, that way you can have a go at overclocking yourself, its also a great way of learning the particular quirks of your own kit, any specific questions, you can ask here and we'll gladly do our best to help.:)

Is the Overclocking travelling guru a bit like Angle grinder man :

Thanks for the welcome and the replies!

System info:

Lian LI PC-P80B Armosuit
Corsair 1000w Psu
I7 975 extreme
Rampage II Extreme Motherboard
Corsair H50 Cooler
Crucial M225 256GB 2.5" SATA-II
2x 9800gt (XFX 5970 being delivered tuesday from Oc)
Corsair 3X2GB DDR3
Asus Xonar D2X PCI-E Sound card (Cant find where the power supply fits into the mother board so I'm using the one that came with the motherboard! grrrr)
Samsung SM2233RZ 3D MONITOR + Nvidia 3d
LG BH10LS30 BLU RAY REWRITER
Razar mamba mouse

This is my first build and I was amazed when I switched it on and it all worked! 6 hours with no previous experience!

I was part of the original home computing genaration and could write a program on a ZX80 or Spectrum, things have changed haha!

I'm not scared to try a bit of overclocking myself but if someone could do it for me safely and save me a lot of time, why not?

I live in London, greenwich.

Cheers,

Paul

That will be lots and lots of fun to overclock, don't rob yourself of the pleasure :)

Did you seriously just buy the 975 when the 980X is out though?

I bought the 975 without any knowledge of the 980:mad:.
I read a lot at the time, as you do before making a large donation but I completely missed it! (NO SWEARING - READ THE FORUM RULES BEFORE YOU POST)

O/c ing sounds like it takes up a lot of time, I could be playing games or looking at porn??

What's the going rate for a 'travelling overclocking guru' to free up some of my valuable time?

oh and welcome and as said try overclocking yourself its fun have alook at other peoples threads on overclocking will give you a good idea if you get stuck just ask

You need to plug a floppy drive power connector from your power supply into the little white socket on the back of the D2X.

Just throwing this out there, but why did you not nab a pre overclocked bundle? Or ask OC to do it for you...they would probably discount rather than charge to overclock those components :P

And it isnt really a case of someone turning up and flicking switches, you need to get to know your own components...anyone who came round to do a full on overclock and a proper job of it would end up staying over for days running stability tests!

Cheers for the replies!

I got all the parts from ******** 16th feb and only found out about O/C's a couple of weeks after. Had I known I would have ordered from O/C and nabbed an O/C'd bundle. O/C's shop seems a lot more comprehensive too!
I am happy with the service I got from ********, although someone probably should have told me about new stuff coming out, I might have waited for the 980x and rampage III.

I tried one of the power supply leads out of the spares bag and it looks right but still no joy, no sound?? The plug on the spares lead that came with the power supply has a little lug sticking out that fitted into the socket on the sound card, would there be any harm in trying this the other way up? (Sorry if I should be posting this in the Sound card section)

Looks like I'm gonna give the overclocking a go myself!! I appreciate any help you lot can offer. I'll do some searching first, see how I get on.

Cheers,

Paul

Did you install the latest drivers from the Asus site after plugging it in and select the Xonar as the default audio device in your control panel?

Well after hours and hours trying to sort it, it finally works!

Why can't these things be simple, this thing took me longer to sort out than building the whole computer.

You would think that installing the driver cd that came with it would at least get you started??

Anyway thanks for your help lads, I couldn't have done it without you!

I'll pop round and do it for you - drop me a PM.

My rates are £26 per hour (I estimate 4-5 hrs to get a baseline stable over clock). Then £5 per 10 mins phone support after the initial baseline over clock to find that last 10% and absolute stability.

As I'd be travelling down to London there will also be over night subsistence of £75 per night and £70.20 in travel expenses.

All in it will amount to around £300.

I look forward to hearing from you.
