To get into the mood for some good old oc'ing gotta be listening to right tunes, what does it for you?

Mines, Prodigy - Thier Law

How bout you boys?

Bit strange i know but it dont half get you going to do some evil stuff to your equipment, oh yeah that and alcohol :D

im hearing you mate.

Anything that makes you feel daring and throw caution to the wind is perfect isnt it?

OCing on beer always makes you push volts that little bit extra too!

Alchohol - yeah, funny you should mention that really.

Until recently I was running my rig at 3.6 at Vcore 1.34 - I got mean and started thrashing the **** out of my processor with some heavy duty priming and S&M. I also modded the mobo, added a cheap water cooling kit and now Im running 4Ghz on this 805 at 1.375 volts.

why did I do it ? Because I was drunk on thursday night and thought it would be a good idea :D

PS Very smashd right now after watching England Vs Portugal *sniff*

whats your super pi time with that 8ghz pentium

If I could be bothered, I could tighten up the timings to my ram and make it sub 30, but I don't think its really worth it ... I have 50% overclock already, I've hit the magic 4ghz with this chip, I think its enough :D

Nahh - It doesnt throttle under full load, so its not getting too hot :D

Tbh, I think my motherboard sensor is out a little, it doesnt start throttling until it hits 74C.

Under most load situations I only hit around 55 - 60C when playing games or doing raytracing, so not overly concerned with the Prime95 load temp I've hit.

Besides, 4Ghz bragging rights rules :P

69c is normal for 805, they were made to cook your dinner on. Also doubles as a fan heater in the winter to warm your toes up.

Someone said a 4ghz 805 is about the same speed as the lowest conroe at stock speeds, not bad

Does that 800mhz ram help much over 666mhz speed?

sorry to digress but your 805 chip hits 69c under load? Isn't that a little too hot?

Thats the alcohol working its magic :D

Iam also a bit pished after footie  Good luck ronaldo when you get back man u traing ground and meet rooney for first time  :D

Im quite chuffed though after dropping my opty 144 on kitchen floor(tiled) bending all the pins after a drunken ill get the ihs job off  After some mind numbing attempts with my missus tweasers which i assume she uses for eyebrows or summit managed to them straight enough(although lost one pin) and back into mobo and working! Its new 938pin opty much better lol

Paul Wellar ~ Brand new start

the two times i ahve built pcs (once when i was 9, ooo yeah.) they were from scratch so it was a brand new start :D

Well, benchmarking it will certainly help I thing. Tbh, I haven't benched this machine apart from SuperPi since I had it running at 3.6Ghz. I may have to invest a little time and get some good bench marks.

FEAR runs stunning on my machine, very happy with it.
