Overclocking with a difference - Spec Me

First of all i have an x2 4800 and 2 gig of OCZ with vista approaching i want more speed, could someone spec me a cheap conroe upgrade but I want 4 Gigs of ram and i want it to overclock to at least 3GHZ all I need is CPU , MOBO and the RAM shouldnt be too hard, wanna stay around the £700 region. WIll the 4 Gigs of ram limit overclocking? If that is the case would i be better off with an E6600 than an E6300? which ram would overclock better with 4 sticks @1 gig each?
 
X2 4800+ & 2Gb DDR is fine with Vista to be perfectly honest. Have you tried OC your X2??

However if you really do want conroe at least your X2 will sell for a very decent price, together with the price you get from your current mobo and DDR you should be able to get a decent C2D setup with E6300+P5B Deluxe+OCUK 2Gb PC6400 (or the crucial anniversary if you put in extra quids).

IMO 4Gb is overkill atm.
 
if i dont get the 4 gigs im better off with my current system, it overclocks like a vauxhall nova, stock 2.4ghz im managing 2.5ghz any higher and the heat is far 2 much

right all i need is the perfect mobo yo clock this conroe with its 4 gigs of ram can anyone suggest the best one for the job?
