Hi,

I'm really hoping someone can help me as I’m really frustrated and wasted half my weekend for no gain, I'm tinkering on my current setup before I get my new build basically learning how to overclock as I want to know what I’m doing when I get my new build.

It’s an AMD Phenom 965 and for years its ran at 3.6GHZ with no voltage adjustments and no problems just by upping the multiplier to x18.

I decided to up the multiplier to x19 to get 3.8GHZ and the voltage from the default 1.400 to 1.425 and run Prime but it always seems to run into problems and restarts, sometimes after a few minutes and sometimes after an hour or so. In BF4 it seems better and I can notice the increase in performance but it has restarted once in 3 hours of BF3 with the overclock.

Is my motherboard limited with the voltage adjustments I can make? I can only seem to adjust my CPU voltage by 1.400 (Stock) 1.425 - 1.4500 - 1.475 and 1.500 of which I’ve tried all, all with the same result in Prime.

I thought my RAM might be the problem so I set it to Auto timings (CAS9) but still the same issue when torture testing, what’s even more annoying is now for some reason I cannot set my RAM back to CAS8, if I do the PC wont boot so I’m completely at a loss as to what’s happened there.

From what I’ve read this should be very simple, up the multiplier by two and the voltage by one notch until its stable in Prime but I seem to have made my setup worse and I’d rather not give in and go back to 3.6GHZ, help!
