Can anyone show me to the best guide for overclocking..by that I dont mean drop multipliers, increase voltage etc...
This is for well, the gear in my sig. WTF I hear u askin, its all on the forums how to o/c. Well I can get my cpu to 14 on the multiplier for sheer processing power without any failings, but when it comes to mem then im stumped. Ive tried for 1 week now on trying to get the whole lot done and dusted, well maybe not done and dusted but as close as possible.
I followed this quick and easy guide http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/747/747606p1.html but at the end it says "You can also overclock your memory, which is next on our list of things to do"!!! which all in all makes it half an o/c guide. Ive set my mem to unlinked like the majority of o/c guides say and upped the FSB but seen no improvement on and benchmarks i have run (in fact i ran NMC and got 14076 then upped my FSB and dropped to 14000) So what about upping the mem, or am I completely and utterly missing the whole point of this. I have tried setting my mem to 1:1 but got BSOD (big scream of death)at boot and tried 3:2 and got BSOD at windows boot (loading bars to be precise)
The last time I overclocked, in fact the only time I have overclocked is using AMD, namely an opty 144 that I got to 2.56 on an ASUS A8R32-MVP with 2gig on Corsair 3500LL @ 4-4-4-2 T1 and I was happy with that (I wanted 2.6 but hey)
