Overheat now multi is at 6

My cpu fan stopped today i didnt notice and the machine shutdown, i disabled smartfan and everything seems fine now.

im running a e6300 which i am told has a 7 multi however i noticed mine is at 6 is this a safeguard after an overheat.

CPU-z states 266*6 1598mhz is this usual

is it safe to just put it back to 7 any help will be appreciated
