I have a problem with my Galaxy Glacier 6800GT overheating when playing Call Of Duty 2 & NFS MW. I noticed after various lengths of play the game would crash out either to the desktop or reboot the rig. Nividia drivers are showing temps of 76-80c after a game crashes. I thought this was a heat issue and removed the side of my case and since then the games run fine without a single crash. My aerogate 2 shows case temps of only 24c.

I recently reseated the arctic cooler with arctic silver 5 on gpu and ramsinks. Would incorrect application cause the over heating problem? I have an 80mm fan on the front and back of my chenbro gaming bomb case. SHould i upgrade these to a 92mm intake and 120mm outake, the biggest my case will allow?

My system has run games fine for almost 2 years and has only developed this problem recently which is why im poining the finger at the artic silver though it runs quake 4 fine.

Cheers lads

Cheers for the reply.

There was quite a bit actually, took me ages to clean it off the core and ram. There was that much it was right off the sides. Used the small blob in the middle approach, where i spread it on before and now im running 65c after a long crash free COD2 session. Even managed the core up to 405, one mistake i have learned from.......
