Guys,

My computer keeps freezing. I mean totaly freezing and unresponsive and there's been a few blue screens as well.

I ran coretemp and noticed that when the load on my CPU (i5 [email protected]), is at full load when folding, the core temps all hit the mid 90's. Once I switch the folding off, they drop to mid 70's, which is better but still to high. It appears to be more stable at these temps.

Why would it be overheating so much. I'm sure the cooler is still working or it would just burn up. Does thermal paste need reapplying after a while? I built the machine in 2011.

I'm running an Antec 620. It's been pretty fine so far.

This is my event viewer. Do these critical errors, which I assume are from the major freeze up's mean?

I assume this has been a solid over clock for a while? What temps did you get when first setting it?

Have you checked your CPau cooler for dust? Ensure the fans are still working properly.

Something is amiss here, 90C isn't normal.

I'd try removing the cooler, giving it a good clean and apply some new paste too. See if that helps. It won't cost you owt. :)

Only some new paste. Can someone link to a good un please. Also, OC has been as solid as a rock.

I'll have to check tomorrow guys as i'm a bit knackered to pull the tower out now.

Interesting about the PSU as it is quite an old (2008) Corsair HX620. I suppose it's time could be up.
