I have an Advent 9315 lappie (core 2 duo T5250 1.5ghz, 2gb memory, 120gb hdd) and it randomly turns itself off, usually though it only does it when i am working it hard.
I decided to use core temp and max out the CPU with prime 95 and within 1 minute the temp was up to 85 degrees so then the laptop throttles the speed back to 999mhz (and the voltage is also lowered) now the temp seems to sit around 70 - 75 degrees for around a minute before then lappie then decides to throttle the speed back up to 1.5ghz, this happens repeatedly before finally switching itself off after about 10 mins.
Any idea's what could be causing this, The lappie is well ventilated and on a flt surface and there does not seem to be much dust over the exhaust and inlet grills, Is it just because it is a cheapo lappie?
