Overheating Laptop

Heya,

Another problem I got lol.

My laptop, its overheating like mad. The fan on the side is way too hot, the adapter is way too hot aswell and the laptop is just very warm when using. After about 3 hours it dies cause of the heat.

Any way I can cool it or fix the problem.

Also, a side thing, any way I can fix the problem with the battery, its just seemed to die and its totally useless now. Any ideas welcome.

Specs are:

AMD Athlon XP-M 2400+ (1.8ghz)
512mb ram
40gb hd

I have the exact same problem with my laptop, the battery and the fan problem. I got a guy coming to look at my laptop tomorrow (insurance) so if I learn anything new (i doubt it) I'll update you.

Methinks the laptop battery and fan just die after a while though, sounds common.

Yeah, tends to happen, had the laptop for 5 years or so now. Lasted well.

Yeah, I have given it a clean on the outside, but might open it up and dust around a bit lol.

The only reason I haven't cleaned it is because I didn't wanna void my insurance with *****, besides, probably best for my to leave it for the guy to look at tomorrow, it's free and he should be able to give me some insight into what's wrong.

If I learn anything I'll post here asap, I know how annoying this problem is.

First thing i would try is getting a can of compressed air and giving the fan vent a good blast, used to have this problem from time to time at work and this usually sorted people out. It usual just gets full of dust and clogs up the fan a bit.

Ah that well known company which im not going to say. *shiver*. My laptops from there too, there quite useless tbh. My warrantys already run out now anyway

after a few gigs my notebooks get mingin'. undo the whole thing, keep your screws safe aside and blast it with a can 'o' air.

My dads got a compressor so if I can get past his van n snap on stuff ill use that to give it a blast lol.

lol sorry, I was frazzled

The repairman couldn't say anything about my laptop so I can't shed any light on it sorry. Pretty sure it's the PSU though.

Btw, what does FF mean?
