Overheating X1900XTX

I won a X1900XTX Toxic during the summer. I had initial problems but they were due to an Antec 450 Watt PSU simply not being powerful enough to juice the card. I then went out and bought a Enermax 620 Watt Liberty series power supply and all was well and everything worked the way it should.
Just today I noticed that for some reason whenever I enter a 3D application the computer locks up and gets a blank screen and needs to be restarted, the time it takes for it to do this varies on the intensity off the 3D application for instance FEAR and Company of Heroes locks up instantly while Counter Strike Source can be played for about 2 minutes. Instantly I assumed overheating as it would make sense. I pulled off the side of the case and under clocked the card using ATI Tool by about 10 % on both the core and memory. Unfortunately these steps have not resolved the issue and I can't play any games. Any advice would be much appreciated.

250 GB Seagate Hard Drive
Creative X-Fi Music
HP DVD Rewriter
Antec Sonata II
Using the latest ATI drivers updated them after I had realized the problem.

PS: I can't find my temperature of the GPU. What utility should I use. I can't find it in ATI Tool. I'm downloading catalyst control now.

A friend of mine is having/has had the same issue, pretty much identical. Turns out it was a RAM problem in the end, we figured this out through weeks of trial and error/reinstalls etc etc.

Have you got any other RAM you could try ?

ATi Tool would be better, i think catalyst doesnt give a 3d render and a temp display on the same screen.

ATI Tray tools has both 3d renderer and gpu temps.

Ok, fat_wife was right about the RAM being a problem. I took out one of my 512 sticks and and everything was back to normal. This doesn't make sense though as the computer saw no problem with the RAM when in the desktop environment. Also a friend pointed out that it may be the socket in which the RAM is placed could be somehow damaged or faulty. Could this be the case?
