Overheating

Depends what you mean by next to each other, if you mean putting three R290X in six slots of space then yes they will definitely overheat, to the point where you will improve performance simply by removing the middle card.

If you mean putting three of them in eight slots of space (one slot of space between each pair) then it is doable provided you have enough airflow to them, so make sure the case has decent front/side intake fans.

DSR only applies to consumers not business customers.

do you know of any such board with the z77 chipset with spaces between?

I doubt they will overheat in the sense that they will become unstable but they are likely to run hotter and throttle more...

Quite simple really ,I was setting up some equipment for the company I work for and they didn't realise the cards don't have physx and being a typical large company nobody wanted to take the rap for the goof which I pointed out , so they discreetly ordered 3 X 780ti and sent me away happy as long as I fitted the 780's in the machines without letting on.

Nice! I just thought/hoped there might be a magical place one could go to pick up free GPU's.
