Hi,

Have recently redone my comp room and while doing all the cables got me thinking if I have too many devices connected to the mains socket.

I only have 1 Double din socket available so have 2x 8 way Extension socket (Surge Protected) plugged into each socket.

Devices connected (split between the 2 extensions)

Is the below too much?

Extension 1

PC (i7 5930k @4.4Ghz, Asus Strix X99, 32GB RAM, MSI 390x, 1x NVME, 2xSSD, 1x 2.5" Hard Drive) Video Encoding/Gaming probably 8 hours per day
Ubiquiti USG
Ubiquiti Switch
ShuperHub 3
Rasberry Pi 3
LG 34UC88 Ultrrawide monitor

Extension 2

Server (i5 4570 stock, 8GB RAM, 10x Hard drives varying from 1TB to 8TB) ... runs 24/7 as Plex server/ file storage
Hauppage Capture Card
External Hard Drive x2
Printer
Logitech G920
Logitech Speakers z2300

Yea it'll be fine. Say each PC used at most 800w (they probably don't), and your monitor used 200w (it probably doesn't) you at 1.8kw. The printer / hub / switch etc will al be in the 10's of watts each rather than hundreds, so there's no way you are going to be pulling much over 2kw. Your average kettle / oil radiator can pull 3kw through a single socket.

Normal office printers (laser) can use anywhere between 400w-700w when printing, it won't affect OP but peak load needs to be considered instead of standby. They have heating elements called fusers which need to melt toner to the paper.

You could get a cheap watt meter to plug in between the main socket and extensions. That would show how little you ate or not using.
Andi.
