I have a Q6600 on an IP35 Pro.

I'm on 3.27Ghz. If I overclock to 3.6Ghz, will I notice any real-world difference - e.g. any noticeable higher fps in new games?

Thanks in advance

i think new games are more dependent on the GPU then the CPU althought this is only a generalisation as most games are not multi threaded anyway so the 300mhz shouldnt make much difference

Thanks for the replies.
I asked, because I was considering buying the Antec SpotCool fan to cool my PWM temp, since that's holding back my overclock. I don't think I'll bother

if you look at it, its a 10% boost only.

Few games are that CPU dependant that a highly clocked Quad doesnt supply most of the CPU needs.

Try this, bench at 3.27Ghz, and again at 3.17Ghz. Compare results and see how CPU dependant the games you play are. It'll depend upon your system (and the games) what the bottleneck is, so you might find CPU Ocing helps when others dont.

Nothing answers it better than testing it out for yourself ;)
