Hi. Not sure where to ask but here it goes.
I have accepted a shift ( 12 hrs ) with NHS forth valley , but just been told that shift will be cancelled because of staff shortages. I have committed myself and made arrangements for that shift...
My question is: If NHS cancel a shift, will I still get paid for it?
Thanks.

i am just going to put this out there but why not call them ?

Depends what your contract says but if you have a set minimum number of hours that are already met or would be met with the rest of your rota or you are salaried then generally they aren't obliged to pay for cancelled overtime and can cancel the shift at any time.

no. when you sign up for bank shifts, you are employed under a zero-hour contract. so the employer, in this case, the trust, can cancel the shift at any time.
but if you don't turn up for a shift you signed up for, you can be reported to your professional council for "lack of professionalism"
sucks. but that's the way it is, unfortunately.

Your contract will outline the conditions here, as we don't know what type of contract you're under. If it's some kind of zero-hour/bank then yes they can cancel your shift at the last minute. Even if you're on some fixed hour contract, you'll probably find in your contract it says your employer can choose/amend when you are required to work.

Infact the only way i can think of that they wouldn't get away with this is if you had a fixed contract that stipulated a working day, but that would seem unlikely given the inflexibility that causes them.

Hang on, let me go dust off my magic 8 ball. It's here somewhere.......

What an odd first post on the forum.

Seriously...check your contract... it's not hard.
