Overwatch 2 is Official

New season starts today (7pm UK time I think). Some Youtubers/content creators got a first hand preview of Ramattra. Honestly he looks pretty bad. A lot of his abilities seem underwhelming, or other tanks do similar but better. I guess we'll see.

Don't know if anyone's still playing, but the April Fools event they just had was some of the most fun I've ever had playing either OW1 or OW2. Seeing Reins and Orisas literally flying around and all the ult voice lines (kamehameha!) was just so silly. It's a shame it's over already. Oh, the new support character has been shown/teased for season 4. Trailer incoming on Thursday.

The main reason I still enjoy the game is because the development team are excellent, with most of the complaints/issues being related to the higher ups/Blizzard in general.

Really cool event and excited to try the new support hero.

I've been playing again recently and it's a mixed bag. The games that go well with everyone playing their role are really rewarding. Though overall, there are far too many smurfs, derankers and trolls throwing matches after having an early hissy fit due to a wipe, etc. to make it worthwhile for me to play it consistently.

Yeah - this - I still play "open" queue ranked. I prefer it to the role locked ranked - far to many one trick dps genji/widows who are just plain awful. At least with open queue you can flex around a poor player a bit easier.

Kind of stuck in mid plat... Was pushing for diamond but just not enough team work to get there usually.

Did have a team last night and we stayed together for 4 games in a row - stomped them all - good players are out there, but too many leavers/crap widows/people just throwing for the sake of it.

I was initially worried about the trolling or unwanted pulls being frustrating, but the super long cooldown looks like it offsets it for the most part. I am a bit worried about how hectic or busy games might get though. If there's a Sym or Mei anywhere, you'll have people teleporting around, flying up on platforms every few seconds, being pulled from across the map, giant trees and walls and barriers popping up...we'll see.

Oh goodie. Played a few games of S4 and then my account was suddenly banned out of nowhere. What the actual ****. I've appealed it, but I'm not entirely sure I'll get it back. The worst part is they don't even tell you why they've banned you. What an absolute joke.

I managed to play one "life" of Lifeweaver in Mystery Heroes. His mechanics are really clunky. He has too many abilities for his own good, and the way you have to switch (as in literally weapon switch) to get from his healing to his damage weapon feels cumbersome in the heat of battle.

-edit- Appeal denied. Generic, unclear canned response. 6 years down the drain. The thing that frustrates me the most is I've played, consistently, ever since I bought it in 2017. Literally throughout that entire time, even when everyone moved on or were crying about double shield or Brig or how OW1 is dead right before OW2 launched, I still played every now and then, because I did still enjoy it. To be not told the reason is just infuriating.

I tried to play last night and apparently no-one could join any games (around 8pm last night) so I gave up. I did see a message about XP had been adjusted and all my ranks changed. It's funny, I had literally just the day before thinking they were probably as accurate as they've ever been. They were all Gold 4 or Gold 5 I think. Often I have one spiking off up or down (I was in Plat for damage recently, while Support, maybe my best one, was in Brzone... Anyway, they adjusted them and now two of them are in low Silver instead?!

Honestly it doesn't bother me. I saw many on Twitter raging about being dropped down, saying they would never play again etc.

Just made it into diamond for first time in open queue :)

nice - been trying hard to get there myself - plat 1/2/3 most of last season.

This season has been a horrible start - leavers all over the show, terrible dps etc..... Not sure I can stomach it much longer.... Feeling the boredom creeping in again with OW....

What heros do you lot use?

It's quite map-dependent, and I think it's beneficial to at least be familiar or competent with everyone as opposed to one-tricking and not bothering to learn anyone else. You don't know how to counter or keep out a certain character's ability ranges otherwise.

That said, I'll typically play Rein and Sig for tank, sometimes Winston (very map dependent) or like a Dva. DPS Cassidy, Soldier 76, Ashe, Support Kiriko, Ana, sometimes Bap or Zen.

Even though I've been playing since the beginning, I would say I'm only able to really use about half the characters (I don't think I'll ever be useful as Genji for example) but I like to pick to counter. A game recently, we went in the first battle, I was Rein, they had a Bastion and Junkrat. My shield melted and I insta died and the team collapsed. I came back as Zarya and owned them tbh. Average charge of 66%. Then their DPS start saying 'Tank diff' and I point out they were the ones charging me to 100% almost all the time and they just didn't change...

In open queue I mostly just play Moira, works well alongside Mercy or Ana. Occassionally switch to those two or Lucio if needed.

In the normal set queues I'm generally gold although did make plat for support but got nudged down again. I used to be good at tank but since the new tanks (and there only being one tank now) in OW2 I've not been so good.

If anyone wanted to add me, I'm Duke#22967 :)
