Hi all
I am thinking of buying overwatch but am worried i am a little late to the party. How easy is it to pick up and learn and also is the goty edition the right version to buy or is there a different version with all dlc thats needed excluding cosmetics.

Thanks for any replies

A great game worth getting and fairly easy and fun for new players to pick up.

The competative side of things takes quite a lot of hours playtime before it lets you in a match as you need to hit level 25 first. Competitive will be hard at first and take quite a lot of hours before you get good at it.

There is no dlc to buy everything is free so just buy the cheapest version.

never too late, a few of my friends have bought it recently albeit on console to my misery.

The game changes a lot anyway with new champs and updates so its a constant learning curve for everyone :)

What are you able to do whilst levelling up then? Play against AI only?

Theres a quick play mode where you can just hop in games and play against "similarly skilled opponents"...
Theres an arcade mode with various game types death match, ctf, limited heroes, 3v3, random heroes.. it alternates weekly.

The only mode you can't play is the competative mode.

There is still the quick play which is same sort of thing as competative just taken less seriously and you have all the arcade modes and custom games and special events.

fyi there is no single player vs ai in the game it's all pretty much player vs player online multiplayer.

I've had it since pretty much release day. It's a pick up a go sort of game. I've not played for a week so when I go on tonight it will be just the same.

There is levels but they don't really mean anything. There's no upgrades either so it's pretty much a level playing ground

I pre ordered it and as much as I despise how comp is handled (mid season changes with hero and map changes... Utterly stupid and no way of joining voice talking teams only) I still play it every day for an hour or so.

It's great fun, the wife and I often stick to arcade mode most of the time. No limits (you can have multiple of the same hero, often ends in carnage) is our go to. We just had a game of 2 teams, 4 moiras on each team. Utter madness. But great fun.

Pick up the cheapest, play quick play/arcade. Ignore if people call you **** as it's not uncommon for high level players to buy new accounts to smurf so they will expect you to be one of those and expect great things. Just play, enjoy and find your face heroes.
