Own a Dog? Not microchipped?

Three dogs here not a clue about this till now.

Don't really care either to be honest. I'm not going to lose my dogs becasue I'm not a retard. Maybe mandatory lessons on how to handle and care for animals properly might be a better investment.

Can't see anything about a current owner needing to keep their details up to date though unless I missed it from a quick scan through.

Change of keeper

8.—(1) From 6th April 2016, where a dog is transferred to a new keeper, the new keeper must, unless the previous keeper has already done so, record their full name, address and contact telephone number (if any) and any change in the dog’s name with the database on which the dog’s details are recorded pursuant to regulation 3(5)(b).

(2) From 6th April 2016 no keeper may transfer a dog to a new keeper until it has been microchipped unless a certificate issued under regulation 3(2) or 3(3) states that the dog should not be microchipped for reasons of the animal’s health.

My wife was going on about this last night.

Ours is done but apparently our local council in conjunction with a local vets is doing free micro chipping on the estate where we live for those who cannot afford to have their dogs chipped.

Can afford to keep a dog.
Can't afford to get it chipped.

Does not compute.

i like the breeders details being recorded alongside the owners for life.

hopefully show up any dodgy patterns.

Nope, not enforced by Police but local authorities. Also the dangerous dogs act isn't ignored, it's just difficult to prosecute.

OK - so it's another law that's going to be routinely ignored by the council, great

I can't believe it's that difficult to prosecute over DDA breaches - just the usual case of weak leadership in the police and CPS can't be bothered to do it because they don't agree with it.

On 6th April 2023 it's against the law to have a child that isn't microchipped and registered on an approved database.
Oh GOOD... now they can track down the little local scrotes that are keying peoples' cars!!

the amount of chipped pets that still have either previous owners details registered against them or the current owners old details is rather large and therefore they may be there but they're of no use.
It provides some starting point for the trail, if nothing else.

How will they know if you haven't had it done?
They'll see you buying dog food and follow you home...?

I'm not going to lose my dogs becasue I'm not a retard.
I know, right... so silly...

There was that one retard who slipped on a bit of mud while out walking her dog, lost her grip on the lead when she hit her head and knocked herself out, so the dog got loose... what a retard, eh!

Then there are all those other retards who are in the process of training their dogs, when things go awry - If only they would train their dogs before training them.... utter retards, eh!

Don't even get me started on all the other random things that can result in dogs getting free, like loud noises and basic human mistakes, as people are SUCH retards for not factoring in every possible outcome of every possible moment...

Or to put it another way - **** can and does happen, no-one is perfect and microchipping is there to help in such circumstances.

The cost of chipping is sod all, Any good breeder should have the dogs chipped before it is sold with the paper work supplied, this way you know its been done, and if not its traceable back.
