Hello people.

Ive managed today to grab myself the ASUS TUF A15 15" AMD Ryzen 5 GTX 1660Ti Gaming Laptop.

Just wondering do we have any owners who can share some non professional reviews and general feedback on the unit please :)

Has anybody upgrade to more ram and is it necessary ?

This is for traveling purposes really so will be tucked away for 300 days a year as i have a desktop anyways for serious gaming.

But on trips away be nice to have a device for movies but also gaming.

Thank You.

I do not own one, but I did a lot of reading on one before I ordered the 2021 version.

I spoke to a few guys on reddit about their experiences too as well as a lot of youtube reviews and modifications.
Generally, most suggest opening the back up, some vents are blocked and suffocate the machine and it benefits from having them opened up. Anyone serious about fixing the heating issues also repasted/padded with better stuff too, as well as a general decent cooling tray. It made 10/15c differences in temps and stopped thermal throttling as well as general comfort when using the machine. Some also carefully undervolt the GPU and occasionally disable the turbo on the CPU for temps and power management.

As for RAM, I've used **No Competitors ** a few times, forgive the use of a competitor here but the guy literally finds OEM spec sodimms for your laptop so it is a straight plug and play with the right CAS timings and frequencies. I also believe they show options for storage expansions your laptop is compatible with as well. I've upgraded the ram on an old Toshiba satellite and a Lenovo Ideapad with stuff from them and it is straight plug and play with matched stuff. Can't speak for the SSD side of things but they do kits and options.

From what I know, I'd deffo open the vents and repaste it to address some of the cooling issues, a tray would help too. I'd check out **No Competitors **if you want hassle free upgrades that are compatible.

Nice one, that's a bargain if it's hardly been used.
Depending on use, it would be good to repaste it and make sure it's clean inside anyhow. It's what I do with any second hand tech, it's a good piece of mind.
